Biometric Gun Safes Top 3 Compare And Buy
64
Gun safes have evolved from being massive, slow entry tombs into efficient, high-tech tools that not only protect firearms and ammunition but also important documents, jewelry and cash. Features such as easily programming multiple fingers, lighted LCD screens and split second entry make today’s biometric gun safes the new standard in ultimate gun safety.
Fumbling with keys in the dark trying to reach a firearm in a hurry is not only frustrating; it creates a potentially dangerous situation. In addition there is always the worry of where the keys are, who has them or where they will be safely stored. Combination locks require the owner to remember a sequenced code under pressure and not get it confused with other PIN’s, passwords and user ID’s and there is always the very real possibility that the code can be cracked.
Biometric Technology
Biometric technology on the other hand is so secure it’s being used for everything from international airport security to employment time clocks. The term biometrics can refer to retinal scans, facial recognition, DNA or in the case of gun safes, fingertip patterns. Because every person has a unique set of fingerprints, lost keys, stolen combinations or tech savvy children cannot compromise a biometric gun safe.
Today’s biometric gun safes are affordable, reasonably light weight, extremely convenient and can be reprogrammed time and again to provide the owner with ultimate control over who has access to the contents.
BioMetrx Biovault
Biovault by bioMetrx, Inc retails for approximately $340. At only 15

market. It has the ability to store an impressive 50 fingerprints in a
built-in flash memory and claims to open in only one second. It operates
on 3 D-cell batteries, comes with an AC adaptor and will retain the
programmed fingerprints during power failures as well as battery
changes.
BioMetrx is a publicly traded company based in Jericho, New York who,
according to Bloomberg Businessweek, designs, develops and markets a
number of products that utilize biometrics such as door locks, mailboxes
and liquor cabinets all using finger recognition technology.
Barska Biometric Safe
Barska Biometric Safe by Barska retails for approximately $200. This
safe comes in at 31 pounds and stores up to 30 fingerprints. Approximate
entry time is 3-5 seconds and emits a loud beeping as it is opened.
While this feature may defeat stealthy access, it is a safety feature
that alerts the owner to unauthorized access. It operates on 4 AA
batteries and will retain its programming during a battery change. It
has a backup key system and predrilled bolt holes that allow it to be
easily mounted on a wall or the floor for additional security.
According to its website, Barska’s corporate offices and main
distribution centers are in Southern California but they have also
recently begun distributing their line of “precision sport optics
products” in Shanghai, China.

If you own a gun and you also have a toddler in the house, you should most definitely have a gun safe that is reliable to protect your child or anyone unauthorized to get their hands on your firearm.
Out of all the safes, I find Locksaf to be the most interesting since it was designed and developed by an Entrepreneur to make what he thought was the perfect safe.
That is the reason they only offer one type of safe now.
I like the idea of biometric identification for a safe... your kids could get a hold of the keys or somehow learn the password / combination, but the chances of them matching fingerprints or retinal scans would be slim to nill.

Gun safes have really come along way from the briefcase type lock. These safes seems like a great idea to store guns and with the different price ranges, it can be a great option for any gun holder. It is also great to know that it is much more child proof than a lock and key safe. Great hub!
